We specialize in Chevy and Corvette vehicles for sale at Stingray Chevrolet. The Corvette has been a staple of American muscle cars since the 1950s, even though it didn’t rise to prominence until the early 1960s with the classic 1962 and 1963 models, with their distinctive low profile and sleek curves.
With more than 70 years of history behind it, the Corvette is a classic piece of Americana that continues today. When you want to shop for a Chevy Corvette to cruise along Lakeland and Valrico roads, trust Stingray Chevrolet for an excellent deal. But first, take a look at our guide to the Corvette models from the C6 and C7 generations. This will help you get a bearing on what your options are, especially if you’re shopping for a vintage Corvette!
Before we dive into details of the Corvette C6 vs. C7, we will give you a quick overview of the Corvette generations. The C6 vs. C7 Corvette generations happen a little later in the automaker’s timeframe.
Check out a timeline of the Corvette generations:
As you can see, the C6 generation covers nine years from 2005 to 2013, while the C7 Corvette runs from 2014 to 2019.
As engine technology advanced in the early 2000s, so did the Chevy Corvette with the C6 generation. For the first time, engine capacities grew to a whopping 7.0L, giving owners even more zip and power. That was when the 7.0L V8 LS7 engine arrived to power the Corvette and Camaro with 570 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of torque. There was also the 6.2L V8 supercharged engine that generated even more speed. Despite the larger engines, the Z06 with the 7.0L displacement was the lightest Corvette made to that point.
Design changes in the Corvette C6 over previous models included the first exposed headlights since the 1962 model year, a larger passenger compartment for more legroom or cargo, and hand-built items not found on other Corvette models.
There were four models in the Corvette C6 line, including the Z06, ZR1, and Grand Sport to go along with limited editions. These Corvettes also had the less curvy hoods that typified previous releases.
From 2014 to 2019, Chevy Corvettes turned into a high-tech powerhouse, and the Stingray was back for the first time since the mid-1970s! The Corvette got both lighter and stronger with carbon-fiber on the hood and fiberglass in many other parts of the outer shell.
Models and trims for the Corvette C7 are the Stingray, Z51, Z06, Z30 (65th Anniversary Edition), and ZR1.

Until then, research Chevy, Buick, and GMC vehicles as they move forward with an electrified future (including an electric Corvette) as the brand elevates its push to be more eco-friendly for Brandon and Tampa drivers.
