If you’re on the fence deciding between a GMC vs. Chevy pickup truck, check out the comparison guide below!

Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500: Price & Trims

Let’s start our guide by examining the pricing and available trims for the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. GMC Sierra 1500. Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500: Performance Specs

Since Chevy and GMC are both owned by General Motors, many of their vehicles are mirror images of each other with identical specs and construction. The Silverado and Sierra are two such “twins,” alongside other pairs like the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon and the Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon. As such, the two trucks have the same set of engine specs under the hood.

However, despite its lower pricing, the Chevy Silverado actually offers a stronger towing capacity than the Sierra by about 1,500 pounds, making it an ideal choice if you’re interested in hauling heavy cargo around Valrico! Here are the details:

  • 2.7L Turbo High-Output: 310 hp / 430 lb-ft of torque
  • 5.3L EcoTec3 V8: 355 hp / 383 lb-ft of torque
  • 6.2L EcoTec3 V8: 420 hp / 460 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel: 277 hp / 460 lb-ft of torque
  • Chevy Silverado maximum towing capacity: 13,300 pounds
  • GMC Sierra maximum towing capacity: 11,800 pounds
